Visit Kitsap Peninsula: A Love Letter to the Place I Call Home

There’s something especially rewarding about working on a project that doesn’t just look good—but feels right.

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Visit Kitsap Peninsula on a campaign to showcase the best our region has to offer. The scope of the work was expansive in all the best ways: food photography, location scouting, storytelling through stills, and collaborating alongside an incredible team of videographers, producers, and creative directors to bring it all together.

We covered dozens of locations—restaurants, cafés, waterfront spots, tucked-away local gems—all to help visitors (and locals alike) see what makes this corner of the Pacific Northwest so magnetic.

And while yes, I was brought in to photograph the food and tell the story visually, what I walked away with was something deeper.

Because this time, the story was personal.

I’ve lived in Kitsap County for years. My son is growing up here. My business is rooted here. I shop at these markets. I order takeout from these kitchens. This project gave me the chance to get behind the scenes of so many places I already love—and discover even more of what makes this community rich with character and connection.

From unexpected breakfast sandwiches at Caffe Cocina to a perfect bowl of something brothy in Poulsbo, the project served as a full-senses reminder that tourism doesn’t just revolve around landscapes—it thrives because of people.

And when it comes to people, food is the fastest way in.

We talk a lot about storytelling in this industry. But it’s not just about what’s plated in front of the camera. It’s about where we are. It’s about whose hands made it. It’s about what connects the food to the place—and the place to the memory. That’s the kind of visual storytelling I aim for in all my work, and the lens I brought into this project.

I believe food is an emotional transaction. It anchors us to a sense of belonging, curiosity, nostalgia—even identity.

I’ll be sharing a few more favorite images below, but if you take one thing from this: let it be this—

Where we are matters.
Who made the food matters.
And the story we tell with both? That’s where the magic lives. I’m so proud to call Kitsap home. Even prouder to help tell its story.
