Velvet Sunshine: How Caffe Cocina Brought Cold Brew to Life
There are few things more rewarding than watching a client not only grow but thrive year after year. For the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with Caffe Cocina—a Poulsbo staple that has become much more than a neighborhood café. They’ve expanded locations, launched their own roasting operations, and most recently, stepped boldly into the world of canned cold brew.
This summer, they released Velvet Sunshine, a nitro cold brew that’s as smooth and refreshing as its name suggests. But what made this launch stand out wasn’t just the coffee—it was the way Caffe Cocina stayed true to their roots: community, authenticity, and effortless style.
The Challenge
Launching a new product meant we had to be strategic. Every touchpoint mattered:
Website & Mobile App needed clean, consistent product imagery.
Community storytelling required lifestyle shots that connected the brand back to Poulsbo—featured right on the can design.
In-store signage & social media had to feel cohesive and instantly recognizable as Caffe Cocina.
The Approach
Working closely with owner Eric Maher, we developed a visual strategy that showcased both the product and the people who make Caffe Cocina what it is. We shot everything from polished product images in multiple quantities to storytelling lifestyle photography—customers enjoying the cold brew, community moments, and brand-driven details that tied it all together.
The Result
Velvet Sunshine hit shelves with a campaign that reflected the heart of Caffe Cocina. The imagery was functional, versatile, and most importantly, authentic. The product flew off the shelves, not just because it was delicious (spoiler: it was), but because the launch looked and felt like Caffe Cocina.
This is what I love about working with them: every move they make is intentional, rooted in community, and true to their identity. And when a brand leans into who they really are, the results are always powerful.
